Membership Qualification for Business Members

(those directly involved in the sale of international property)

Business Members, Criteria A
With 3 years' of company trading in international property, you qualify for membership providing:

  1. You hold all of the necessary qualifications and licenses to engage in such activity in the country to which you belong and, if this is required in the countries where the real estate is located, also in the place where the real estate is located.

  2. You are of good standing.

  3. You pay the appropriate fee and maintain your membership by paying the annual membership fee.

  4. You commit to conduct your businesses in accordance with the Code of Conduct and commit yourselves to resolving any disputes with buyers, if the buyer so wishes, using the Dispute Resolution Procedure.

If you feel your company qualifies under Criteria A, you need to complete our Application Form.

 

Business Members, Criteria B
Without 3 years' company trading in international property, you must show 'extensive experience' to qualify for membership. What does 'extensive experience' mean?

  1. Ideally, you should have at least 5 years' experience of the international property market.

  2. If sufficiently senior (Director level, Senior Management in mid to large company, running own small company), we may be able to accept 3 years'' experience. At discretion of the Board.

    If you satisfy either 1 or 2, you qualify for membership providing:

  3. You hold all of the necessary qualifications and licenses to engage in such activity in the country to which you belong and, if this is required in the countries where the real estate is located, also in the place where the real estate is located.

  4. You are of good standing.

  5. You pay the appropriate fee and maintain your membership by paying the annual membership fee.

  6. You commit to conduct your businesses in accordance with the Code of Conduct and commit yourselves to resolving any disputes with buyers, if the buyer so wishes, using the Dispute Resolution Procedure.

If you feel your company qualifies under Criteria B, you need to download and fill in our Application Form and provide supplementary information to demonstrate how you satisfy the above qualifcation requirements based on your 'extensive experience' of the international property market.

 

Business Members, Criteria C
Without 3 years' trading or 5 years' experience of the international property market, you must show ‘other relevant experience' to qualify for membership AND must illustrate that your company plans, procedures and documents reflect the aims of the AIPP.

‘Other relevant experience': what does that mean?

  1. Ideally, you should have at least 5 years' experience of the property market.

  2. If sufficiently senior (Director level, Senior Management in mid to large company, running own small company), we may be able to accept 3 years' professional experience of the property market. At discretion of Board.

  3. If you have at least 5 years' experience in a senior industry position with similar skills required (sales, marketing, business management, finance, law), we may be able to accept you as a Member. This will also rely on the degree to which the company reflects the aims of the AIPP. At discretion of Board.

  4. If you have at least 7 years' experience in an industry position with similar skills required (sales, marketing, business management, finance, law), you should be accepted as Member as long as your company reflects aims of the AIPP. At discretion of Board.

    If you satisfy either 1, 2 , 3, or 4 to the satisfaction of the Board, you qualify for membership providing:

  5. The person operating the business is a fit and proper person.

  6. The company plans, documentation and procedures are consistent with the aims of the AIPP.
  7. You commit to conduct your businesses in accordance with the Code of Conduct and commit yourselves to resolving any disputes with buyers, if the buyer so wishes, using the Dispute Resolution Procedure.

    Companies applying under Criteria 3 will be asked to supply extra documentation, as listed below, to illustrate 6:

    • A statement from the person operating the business explaining how the company's plans and procedures reflect the aims of the AIPP.

    • Copies of the sales literature sent to clients (standard letters, brochures, property details).

    • Full professional background of person operating the business, CV or short career biography.

    • Phone number of referee and permission for AIPP to call them.

    • Details on developments and / or developers with whom you work. This may include a summary of the due diligence undertaken on developments and developers.

    • List of previous clients to contact regarding service (this is optional). If 5 clients supplied, only 2 may be randomly selected and called.
