70,000 copies of AIPP Members Directory released
On Thursday 27th September, the second edition of the AIPP Members Directory was released to the buying public in both the UK and Ireland. A consumer guide to buying safely overseas, it also contains a full list of AIPP Members.
In both countries, the Directory is a bagged supplement in one of the major property magazines: A Place in the Sun in the UK and the Irish Property Buyer in Ireland.
‘Our job is to make sure the international property buyer understands the buying processes overseas, and to make clear the benefits of buying with an AIPP Member,’ explained AIPP’s Chief Executive, Paul Owen.
Early in the Directory, Owen is interviewed by property journalist, Nigel Lewis, about the future of this market. In his reply, Owen addresses the consumer direct.
‘This market can be made better, safer, cleaner. If you want that market, support our work. Don’t be afraid. Ask each international property company: are you a Member of the AIPP? We have no agenda other than making this market better. We’re selling you, the buyer, nothing. We’ve giving you, the buyer, something. Make the most of it.’
The Association is expecting wide coverage of the Directory in the media, particularly as it will be promoted in the release of the AIPP Consumer Survey 2007, coming out soon. In this survey, buyers are asked about their concerns when buying property overseas: what worries them and what can professional companies do to reassure them?
‘We’ve asked the sort of questions many agents and developers are afraid to ask,’ said Owen. ‘It is absolutely essential that, if you are selling property, you understand the barriers your clients feel. It’s no good talking up your product in endless marketing messages if people are not buying. Find out their concerns, then address them. Simple.’
Results of the survey will be released in October 2007. Copies of the AIPP Members Directory are available now in the November issue of A Place in the Sun magazine and the October issue of Irish Property Buyer magazine.
