Google and Buyer Security: two important subjects; one place to be....

26/01/2009

At the first AIPP Member event of 2009 on the evening of Thursday 29th January, there will be two presentations to Members and invited guests, each offering a view on changes to be seen this year in the international property market.

HOW CAN THE OVERSEAS PROPERTY MARKET TACKLE BUYER CONFIDENCE?
&
HOW WILL GOOGLE CHANGE THE OVERSEAS PROPERTY INDUSTRY IN 2009?

One issue that has plagued this market for too long is the unreliability (or total lack) of information given to consumers about the security of new build projects. Of course, there is no reason for off-plan purchases to come with added risk but some agents and developers have too often failed to be as transparent or diligent as required in recent years. It is just one of the many reasons that AIPP was set up.

Addressing the matter of security on off-plan purchases in some detail at Thursday evening’s event will be Michael Masterson, MD of the International Development Registry (IDR).  IDR has been set up to provide independent legal certification to developments and to create a global register of certified international property developments.

Masterson will address the requirements of today’s market for greater transparency when selling property overseas and explain how the service his company offers can help developers and agents reassure buyers (and each other) that all checks have been done in advance of selling.

As Masterson explains, ‘All parties involved will benefit from the increased visibility of key information, including greater buyer appeal and trust. In addition to the legal certification and title insurance available, IDR can also help with applications for development funding, a great help to developers at this time.’

The Google brand is of course almost universally known as the premier directory of online information. Ashley Rigg, Founder and Managing Director of Global Edge, believes that the global search engine will bring about significant changes to this market in 2009 – his presentation on the night will cover the prospects.

With over ten years’ online marketing and management experience, four of which have been in real estate, Ashley will bring a fascinating insight into the changes ahead along with guidance on how to make the most of the new opportunities presented.

Globaledge is an independent trade portal designed to help real estate agents and property developers do business overseas.  The portal offers a number a number of business tools including a private networking facility, new business alerts and advice on the best lead-generation tactics available to overseas agents.  Globaledge won the OPP Best Partnership Product Award in 2008.

Hosted by AIPP, this event opens the year for the Association and its Members. In addition to the presentations above, AIPP’s Chief Executive Paul Owen will update Members and guests on the Association’s plans for the year ahead and the help that Members can expect. Once the presentations are complete, there will be time to meet other attendees, find out how the year has begun for others and, importantly, to build business partnerships with fellow professionals.
